International Symposium on Pathomechanisms of Amyloid Diseases
December 18-20 2019
Miami FL
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the organizing committee, we invite you to participate in the International Symposium on Pathomechanisms of Amyloid Diseases from December 18-20, 2019 in Miami FL, USA.
The purpose of this symposium is to bring established investigators and junior researchers together to expand this exciting field. Attendance will be limited, making it an ideal setting for discussion and learning.
The scientific program includes talks by the top international experts in the field as well as in-depth discussions during the informal sessions. Our aim is to summarize what is already scientifically known and learn about the cutting-edge research, and to create a forum where junior trainees can meet and network with established investigators.
The topics include
-
Human amyloid imaging
-
Animal models of amyloid diseases
-
Drug design and development for amyloid diseases
-
Amyloid enhancing viral infections
-
Bacterial and functional amyloids
-
Cellular toxicity
-
Effects of cross-seeding, crowding and cell membrane
-
Mechanistic insights into pathology of amyloid diseases
-
Theoretical, computational and experimental studies on toxic oligomers
-
Instrumentation, technology and novel approaches for in vitro and in vivo studies of amyloid diseases
Cheers,
Varan Govind (University of Miami)
Ayyalusamy (Rams) Ramamoorthy (University of Michigan)
A Tribute to Professor Sir Christopher Dobson
Professor Sir Christopher Dobson, University of Cambridge, UK, passed away on September 8th 2019. Professor Dobson's research contributions greatly advanced our understanding of protein misfolding and amyloid diseases. This is a very big loss to the scientific community. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Tributes paid to Master of St John’s College who has died age 69
The program will include a session in memorial of Sir Christopher Dobson.
Here are a few selected videos of Professor Dobson:
